Music Tip of the Month: Brass Players

Fall brings crisp air, cooler temps, and busy schedules filled with rehearsals, football games, and outdoor gigs, making it the perfect time to give your brass instrument a little extra care.

As the weather shifts, valve oil can thicken and tuning slides may stiffen, so stay ahead by oiling more often and keeping slides well greased. Wipe down your horn after playing outside to protect it from moisture and debris, and check that your case is ready for travel and temperature changes.

Just like pulling on your favorite sweater, these small habits can keep your instrument warm, comfortable, and ready to sing all season long.

Is Your Teacher Fully Booked?

Spots are filling up fast, and several teachers are already at capacity. If you need to adjust your schedule, want to check for upcoming availability, or would like to join a waiting list for a specific teacher or time, our Office Staff is here to assist. Don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re ready to help you find the best solution.

Looking Ahead to the Recital

Our winter red carpet recital is still a few months away, but the journey toward it starts now.

Recitals aren’t just performances. They’re milestones. They’re a chance to set a goal, work hard, and share something you've created with your community. Whether it’s your first time performing or your fifteenth, preparing for a recital helps you grow in big ways—confidence, focus, and musical expression.

If performing makes you nervous, you’re not alone. Every great musician has been there. That’s why we start early—so you have time to prepare, polish, and walk on stage with confidence.

Not sure what you want to play? Ask your teacher to help you choose something meaningful—something that challenges you just enough. And remember, a recital isn’t about being perfect. It’s about progress, and sharing music with the people who are cheering you on.

So as fall settles in, start thinking: What do you want to share this December?

A Music School Newsletter?

Hey there! Ever wonder why this little gem of a newsletter lands in your inbox every month? It’s our way of keeping you in the musical loop—spilling the beans on upcoming dates, spotlighting student triumphs, and sharing mini brain‑boosting music hacks (think “air‑drumming miracles” or how to hydrate that vocal cord like it’s lava).

We sneak in friendly nudges about teacher times that are currently selling out faster than cupcakes at a bake sale, plus a dash of trivia prizes to keep things fun (and occasionally snarky).

Whether you've been with us a minute or forever, we’re here to celebrate every pluck, note, and high‑five. Because life’s too short for quiet newsletters—let’s make some noise.
